Campaign 2008·Deep Thoughts·Obama

I sit in my home contemplating the recent events. Seemingly safe, secure, and loved, I take solace in my apparent protection from outside forces. These feelings are empty, however, as my life is susceptible to intrusion as is true for all our lives. Choosing Obama as the next president of the United States scares me but I remain hopeful that all is not lost.

Short Changing the Foreign Policy Debate

Campaign 2008

It is simply amazing that Obama is given such a free pass. It is obvious that he is the love child of the mainstream media, but come on! The first presidential debate of 2008 was a mockery of the process. PBS is allegedly a non-biased media outlet, but Jim Lehrer handed Obama an environment amicable to the liberal senator.

Palin eMail Hack

Campaign 2008

Sarah Palin's personal Yahoo! account was hacked recently.1 It's just another consequence of being the most feared Republican (of the moment). It also shows you that some that follow Democratic dogma are evil. Public discord and political disagreements are one thing, but committing a felony to find incriminating "dirt" is a totally different matter...it's a totally different level of insanity and blind obsession.

Drilling Slight of Hand

Ecomonics·Oil

The House of Representatives have played a classic slight of hand today.1 Passing a bill (i.e. House Resolution 6899) that is meaningless and filled with hidden agenda items such as removing tax cuts for oil companies, the House proved once again that they are in it for themselves. Like many of the "omnibus" bills created by Congress, they refuse to vote on a bill that represents a single issue. They insist to include other items, forcing a congressman to either vote for the bill or be labeled as one who does nothing.

SNL: "Palin" and "Clinton"

Campaign 2008

OK, so I'm a little late with this, but I finally got a chance to see the Saturday Night Live skit of Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton. It was broadcast on September 13, 2008, and it has garnered quite a stir. Overall it was funny and dolled out the humor equally to both characters, Sarah and Hillary. As with most SNL skits, there wasn't much in terms of substance, but it made up for it in laughs; that's all we can really ask.

Palin Interview: ABC News

Campaign 2008

Sarah Palin has given her first interview to the liberal-leaning mainstream media: ABC News.1 It was good to see her attempt to swin in shark-enforced waters and overall she was successful. Sure, you'll hear many people share their "fear" of having a Palin presidency. I think she was precise and confident. She has obviously undergone a lot of coaching and you'd expect her to be better in the short future if for no other reason than through practice.

Biden: Finally Right on Something!

Campaign 2008

Conservatives have often mused that Joe Biden is a mealy-mouthed senator that doesn't impress when it comes to tact or general intelligence. Aside from the numerous examples of stupidity in the past, Biden has blundered once again and I'm sure Obama is fuming. In a New Hampshire rally today, Joe clearly stated that not only is Hillary Clinton qualified to be president but might have been a better, more qualified vice presidential pick.1 I guess he finally said something truthful and worthy of note!

Servicing a Liberal

Deep Thoughts

We always find ourselves greeting or servicing others - you know, the sometimes-uncomfortable pleasantries we give passers-by or the question we ask customers. You should know that a successful person will effectively custom his interactions based on the other person's personality, ideals, and desires (i.e. walking in the other person's shoes and approaching the conversation from that point of view). Thus, when greeting a conservative or liberal, it is equally important to customize your greeting.

For the conservative: How can I help you today?

John McCain: Convention 2008

Campaign 2008

Last night John McCain accepted his party's nomination for president of the United States. As customary, the nominated candidate gives an acceptance speech; the entire convention had boiled down to this one speech. There's no use in trying to convince "Bush haters" that anything he said was worthy of their time so I'm left with a candid and brief look at the text of his speech. It is not the intent to go over each word of the text, but I'll touch on some higher-level points.

Republican Convention 2008: Day 2

Campaign 2008

The 2008 GOP National Convention continued tonight, and I'm on my second day of sickness. Coincidence? I think not. Being able to do nothing more than sit in front of a television all day has given me the opportunity to watch a lot of convention coverage. I've never watched so much C-SPAN as I've done today (I literally couldn't stomach regular, liberal networks).
